Story
In memory of my dear son Alex who left us far, far too early and in the sincere hope that my efforts may make a difference I am fundraising for GI Cancer Institute (Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group), a cause that is close to my heart. Research into this insidious disease is critical and crucial and it is my genuine hope that with any new research that someone’s friend or family member may benefit and his/her life saved.
Last year I raised $3000 doing dry July but there has been nothing dry about this year so this challenge is also a path forward for my own well being.
I had set myself a goal to raise $3,500.00 but as many generous friends met this target quickly and as my wife Skye and I matched the total raised dollar for dollar I am hoping to raise even more for this great cause. Gastro-Intestinal (GI) cancer is the most common form of cancer claiming a devastating 51 lives each day. At the GI Cancer Institute, our vision is to create a world free from GI cancers. It is thanks to the support of the community that we are able to fund vital clinical trials research to improve quality of life and treatment options for GI cancer patients.
